Express Yourself, Photo by Laurie Kang

A project about connection and the impulse to perform, Express Yourself finds performer Liz Peterson in a studio, searching for a truthful moment. A combination of personal stories both real and made up, live projections, text, and improvised movement, the performance follows a sequence of visual setups that revolve around a screen hanging in the centre of the studio. As Peterson works to break down the distance between herself and her audience, questions about fiction, perception, and authorship emerge.

Created by Sean O'Neill and Liz Peterson with the collaboration of Ame Henderson.

Produced with the support of the City of Toronto through the Toronto Arts Council and the Canada Council for the Arts.
